What situations count as a work injury?
Under the Employees’ Compensation Ordinance (Cap. 282), any bodily injury or occupational disease caused by an accident arising out of and in the course of employment is a work injury. Employees have the legal right to claim employees’ compensation, including site accidents, office falls, occupational diseases, and more.
How is employees' compensation calculated?
It mainly comprises sick-leave pay for temporary incapacity (4/5 of monthly salary), permanent incapacity compensation (assessed injury percentage × monthly earnings), and reasonable medical expenses; fatal work injuries also carry compensation for dependants. We recommend a professional assessment by a solicitor to secure the maximum compensation.
What happens to an estate when there is no will?
If the deceased made no will, the estate must be distributed under the Intestates’ Estates Ordinance, a more complex and time-consuming process.
