We act for Mr. Tong Ying Kit in WKCC 2217/2020. This is the first NSL Law case in Hong Kong brought to court – Others arrested under provisions of the NSL are still under police investigation.
He is charged with a count of Incitement to Secession (contrary to Articles 20 and 21 of the Law of the People’s Republic of China on Safeguarding National Security in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (“NSL”)) and Terrorist Activities (contrary to Article 24 of the NSL).
He remained in police custody since his arrest on 1 July 2020 as his bail application has been refused.
At 10:30am on Thursday, 20 August 2020, Mr. Tong Ying Kit will be represented by Mr. Philip Dykes S.C. for an Application for Writ of Habeas Corpus (HCAL 1601/2020) and by Mr. Lawrence Lok S.C. for an application for high court bail (HCCP 463/2020).
